Adult ADHD Evaluations
At Pure Peace Counseling, our neurodiversity-affirming Adult ADHD Assessments are centered around a comprehensive diagnostic interview using the DIVA-5, a well-validated and widely respected tool. *Note: This assessment’s results are not to be used for verifying a diagnosis for a disability claim, receiving medication, or applying for programs requiring an official diagnosis. You would be more suited to get a diagnosis from a clinical psychologist instead of licensed therapist for those purposes.
Alabama residents only!
What does neurodiversity-affirming mean?
Unlike a deficits-based approach that aims to “fix” the perceived impairments of neurodevelopmental conditions, a neurodiversity-affirming approach recognizes that every neurotype possesses unique strengths, interests, and support needs. It also emphasizes how environmental factors and societal barriers can intensify the challenges experienced by neurodivergent individuals. We will do special tests that examine behaviors you may be masking to “fit in” with others. This is a safe space where no masks are needed and you are valued for your differences and strengths.
Who is this testing for?
I work best with adults who feel capable and intelligent, yet constantly frustrated by how difficult it is to keep up with everyday demands.
You may have been described as “bright but disorganized,” “full of potential,” or someone who works incredibly hard just to stay afloat. Maybe you’ve built systems to compensate like reminders, lists, alarms, late nights finishing tasks, but it still feels like everything takes more effort than it should.
Many adults I evaluate have spent years believing their challenges were a personal failure rather than a difference in how their brain works.
You might be seeking an ADHD evaluation because:
You struggle with focus, time management, or follow-through
Your mind feels constantly busy or scattered
You procrastinate even on things that matter to you
Deadlines, transitions, and organization feel overwhelming
You feel stuck in cycles of burnout, shame, and overcompensating
Anxiety or depression treatment hasn’t fully addressed the underlying issues
For many adults, especially women, professionals, creatives, high-achievers, and people of color, ADHD was simply never recognized growing up. Instead, they learned to mask their struggles, push themselves harder, or internalize the belief that they were “lazy,” “bad,” “inconsistent,” or “not trying hard enough.”
My Philosophy
I approach ADHD evaluation through a neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based lens.
ADHD is not a character flaw.
It’s a difference in attention regulation, executive functioning, and motivation systems.
An evaluation is not about labeling you, it’s about understanding how your brain works so you can move through the world with more clarity and less self-criticism.
Our work together includes exploring:
Attention and executive functioning patterns
Emotional regulation and rejection sensitivity
Work, school, and relational functioning
Developmental history and lifelong patterns
The role of masking, coping strategies, and burnout
I take a collaborative and transparent approach to assessment. Your lived experience matters just as much as the data we gather. My goal is to provide a thoughtful, evidence-informed evaluation that reflects the complexity of your experience.
What Clients Often Want
Many adults come in looking for:
Clarity about lifelong struggles with focus and follow-through
Validation that their challenges are real
A framework for understanding their brain
Guidance for treatment, accommodations, or next steps
Relief from years of self-blame
Whether the evaluation confirms ADHD or points toward another explanation, the goal is the same: helping you understand your patterns and move forward with tools that actually fit how you work.
When we understand the brain, we stop fighting it, and start working with it.
What’s included:
- An initial 15 minute phone consolation call with our team to discuss your goals, answer any basic questions about the process, and scheduling for your initial intake session.

-An assessment of sensory profile, executive functioning, distractibility, hyperactivity, and social responsiveness. Several at home screeners may also be assigned.
-A written personalized report of all findings with a separate session to discuss the findings and the implications and the diagnosis given. (Optional)
